I can’t speak to why these people want to keep their association with the Episcopal Church a secret, unless it affects their ordination status in their previous denomination, and ultimately their retirement plans.

I am about to retire myself and will probably end up worshiping with an Episcopal congregation. However, I will retain my membership and credentials with my United Methodist annual conference (and one of the successors after the split next year). That is because I have two weddings yet to perform (two daughters).
